Michelle's debut album, the Charlie Peacock produced listen', was described by Chris Tozer in CR45 as the best debut collection he had reviewed and it showed briefly on the American CCM chart. Could she live up to expectation with this follow-up? The answer is a resounding yes for this new set on which she shares production credits with David Leonard. I can understand previous comparisons with Enya due to the use of programming and vocal layering, but there is much more to Michelle (check out the Bangles vibe of "Do Ya?"). Her lyrics speak of a deep relationship with God and the songs have plenty of hooks. I would like to hear Michelle's voice against some strong male backing vocals as it works so well on the acapella track "Chant", Great strings abound, including featured cello by the excellent John Catchings. Doug Lancio's tasteful guitar work could have been higher in the mix for my own tastes, but I'm just being picky as the overall balance is superb. An impressive follow up from the Australian-born, US-based singer which could impact on this side of the pond. Buy it!
