Not the man himself you understand, but a cluster of session singers and musicians weaving his songs into a youth musical. The scriptwriter aims to tackle some of life's inecapable problems, using dialogue throughout to get the brain cells working as well as to entertain. Enterprising project for sure. On the minus side, it's soaked in glossy slickness, and defiantely can't stand alone as a piece of work apart from seeing the live presentation, which would probably be worth a visit. So much of the "Oh, I'm so excited" brand of American jargon simply doesn't travel. If you enjoy the super-smooth side of it all, go for it! Hopefully most Cross Rythms readers look for more gut-level rawness in their musical diet.

The highly anticipated album is released, 2 years in the
making. You will note that after this album, Michael has a
project released each year-consecutively!! "Rocketown"
appears to be the album's hi-lite song; also on "First
Decade". The listener notes almost immediately, that these
songs are life songs; lyrics less garnered for ccm:very pop
based material. I like "Old Enough to Know", "Wired for
Sound", "Lamu" and "You're Alright"; and "Rocketown" of
course. In 2 years Smitty would release a great classic lp
"Eye to Eye"; filled with some of the best songs in ccm
history!! The songs on this album were not what I expected
to hear after a 2 year hiatus from Smitty; it missed the
"Eye to Eye" mark it seems. GOD Bless! -Don
