A quick look at his Cross Rhythms artist profile page shows just how much material Michael has released since the early 1980s - it takes a lot of scrolling to get to the bottom. All this experience has been poured into his latest studio album, from the songwriting through the performance to the production it is all top notch. Over half the songs here were written by Michael in collaboration with numerous writers and the rest are well known current songs such as Leeland's "Christ Be All Around Me", Aaron Keys "Sovereign Over Us" and Worship Central's "The Same Power". All are delivered with Michael's distinctive voice - it is still great after 30 years - and the usual high quality production and arrangements that people have come to expect from the CCM star - particularly on the powerful duet with Kari Jobe, "The One That Really Matters". There is a bit of a feeling of "I have heard it all before" that pervades much contemporary worship albums these days as certain riffs and motifs have been over used throughout the genre. However, the Michael touch shines through and the quality and passion make this one of the best worship albums for quite a while - very easy to both listen to and worship along with.
