Knowing that a recording comes from Ireland is always a good sign, and this CD, for the most part, upholds my theory that the Irish were the first in line at the January sale in the talent shop. 'Hard On Your Heels' is a collection of tracks formed some four and a half years ago. Not following any specific musical theme, but using the most popular songs from their live set, the style ranges from Irish folk to blues. Musically, the band are excellent, but you get the feeling that they could have stretched themselves more, rather than sticking to simplistic structures. The lyrics are also quite elementary, maybe to underline their uncomplicated faith in God. In particular, "Speak The Name" and "If I Said" are well worth listening to, as is the misty voice of Tricia Legear on "Somebody To Love". Altogether, a solid effort from a band who are hoping to sign a deal in the near future, packaged in a very professional cover.
