Professor Of Theology and Chancellor/CEO Elect for the Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Virginia, Dr Milton has poured himself into this selection of songs which are gentle yet powerful and autobiographical in nature. On first listen this album reminded me a little of Don Francisco - a storyteller's gift in his lyric writing sung over both strummed and picked melodic guitar stylings enhanced by a variety of instrumentation. From the Cat Stevens folk style opener of "Your Sovereign Grace" with guitar and two voices to the Irish folk instrumental "Your Sovereign Grace Postlude" the listener is taken on a musical and life story journey which includes folk, country, Americana, bluegrass and even a hint of classical music. It's unobtrusively produced letting the both the musicianship and the carefully crafted lyrics speak for themselves, with standout tracks, along with the two mentioned above, being the haunting "Down The Road" and the heartfelt piano ballad "Jesus Came". If you like acoustic music this one is well worth investigating.
