'The Invitation' is the debut album from a fresh-faced worship leader from Chicago. With Meredith's soft but powerful voice, this is an album which shows a maturity way beyond simple youthful exuberance. Even as early as "You Invite Me In", you grasp something of the message of love and hope that Meredith is sharing. Restoration through God's grace is a recurring theme throughout the record, especially prominent in her first radio single "You Are Not Alone". "Lift Up Your Head" with its beautiful piano arrangements, is about recognising the presence of God in your life while "Show Me What It Means" deals with understanding what it takes to be forgiven. It's these well crafted songs coupled to Meredith's stunning vocals which bring this album to life while the memorable "New Song We Sing" is a song of such quality that if it was published by one of the praise and worship fat cats could possibly circle the globe. Almost as good is the acoustic version of "You're Not Alone", ideal for quieter and more reflective worship times. Certainly a brilliant debut, Meredith Andrews is a name that won't be forgotten by this reviewer in a hurry.
