The first single from the band's 'Welcome To The New' album signalled a sterling effort by the veteran band to both contemporise and diversify their sound which had become too Christian-radio-safe for my tastes at least. "Shake" is a little gem, which manages somehow to have a retro-funk vibe yet with plenty of modern production invention. Add to that a joyful Bart Millard vocal and a lyric which boldly celebrates new life ("Great God almighty/He gonna change me") and you have a track which deserves every one of its Cross Rhythms radio plays.
