Saskatchewan-based Christian hardcore rock group Means signed to Facedown records in 2007 and 'Sending You Strength' is the first album from this new relationship. Means have the scream/sing vocal combination that is becoming a staple for hardcore/metal groups. Some groups have a tough time combining these two contrasting vocal styles well, but Means have found a good middle ground. Sonically the group are intense, with tight and punchy riffs littered throughout the album, which work well with the vocals. The first track "Learning To Be Brave" sets the agenda for the rest of the album with hopeful lyrics, tight rhythms and powerful dual vocals. Standout tracks are "Learning To Be Brave", "Cadences" and "These Are The Words" and are a must listen for anyone into this style of music. Although musically Means do not offer anything new to the hard music genre they deliver their songs with passion.
