Michigan-based gospel singer and pastor Marvin Sapp has seen his career catapult in recent times and his latest release - recorded live with overdubs and with producer Aaron Lindsey once again at the helm - further cements his standing as one of gospel music's most successful artistes of the modern era. Having bravely faced personal tragedy in recent years, Sapp has chosen to focus on victory in Jesus as his main topic and the opening track "Teach My Hands To War" sets the scene not only for an album of polished high octane gospel but also a collection of songs that claim Christ's authority at every turn. With an exceptionally funky backing band behind him, Sapp's incredible vocals are showcased in the likes of the slow burning title track whilst he really lets rip in "The Hymns Medley" and "My Testimony", both which betray his old style gospel roots and an ability to stir up his congregation to fever pitch. Slower numbers such as the powerful "Deeper" reflect Sapp's commitment to God and a refusal to shy away from the trials set before him whilst also bringing some variety to an otherwise relentlessly-paced album. Proceedings soon notch back up the gears with "Do Me Like You" and "Keep It Movin'" rounding off another victorious release from the gospel music scene's man of the moment.

Product Description

The sixth solo release from one of the most recognisable voices in Gospel music.

A huge part of Marvin Sapp’s appeal has been his ability to tap into his own personal pain and weave a heart-touching song that speaks to the masses. such was the story with his mega-hit song Never Would have made it and the follow up Best in Me. In the midst of those waves of success, the ‘pastor who sings’ suffered another painful loss when his wife MaLinda Sapp passed away.

Marvin’s last two albums, Thirsty and Here I am, have combined sales of over 1.2 million units. Here I Am was the highest charting Gospel release in soundscan history.
