This is the first solo project from this singer/songwriter and worship leader from New Life Ministries, Bradford and offers 10 songs sung in Mark's flexible, clear voice, with a small band consisting of guitars, keyboards, percussion and an occasional choir. The title track offers an effective dynamic contrast between the powerful drums and some great electric guitar work while the second song, "Red", is similarly effective. But then, as the album becomes softer and gentler it begins to lose focus. There are several songs which, although the melodies are fairly strong, the arrangements leave the vocals adrift in a wash of sound that I guess was supposed to be spiritual but didn't cut it for me. Mark has an interesting background. He is originally from Australia, where aged 13 he won their Young Talent Time TV show. He then starred in the sitcom Neighbours as Nick Page, before coming to England to do pantomime and work the clubs singing. He got caught up in various addictions before becoming a Christian and eventually leading worship at Hillsong London then relocating to Bradford. Overall, this is a reasonable debut though the lack of production direction and too many songs which sound like filler to these ears one is left with a project which is unlikely to connect with the Church beyond the confines of Bradford.

Product Description
To Be With You is the new solo album from singer/songwriter Mark Stevens.
The album is a collection of 10 brand new songs that are both colourful, intimate and arresting.
To Be With You is a personal heartfelt journey of victories, joys and trials. The music beautifully parallels the lyrics with vibrant soaring melodies that are richly layered, yet at other times, extremely exposed and simplistic.
Mark holds nothing back as he pours out his life into these songs. Mark's voice will deeply connect with you as he lifts, strengthens and empathises with you.

I thought this album was a very gutsy release in the
christian music realm. Many of the tracks are out of the box
which sadly I'm sure most people wont get, but those who do
will be taken to a deep place in worship, which is how the
journey of the album seems to be set out. Hope it does
really well.
