Out of Gautier, Mississippi comes a lady who has opened for the likes of Barry White, James Brown and Marvin Gaye in a successful R&B career with the Stax label before committing her life to Christ. 'Latter Rain' is apparently Margie's first gospel release and is a delicious demonstration of the vocal chops that made her Stax career what it was. The title track is soft '80s/'90s soul while "Move On Up A Little Higher" is pure old style gospel blues. Some wonderful arrangements coupled to a fabulous voice - Margie sounds so laid back that I wouldn't be at all surprised if she recorded this seven-track collection sitting back in an armchair with a nice cup of tea. Superb.
