Mai, or Maldwyn, Pope has written HUNDREDS of songs - from Eurovision Song Contest entries to praise and worship choruses - but I doubt whether he's ever written a better one than "Golden Days". Over a poignant, Elton John-ish melody he plucks a series of memorable images of times past that artfully touches on the world's nostalgia and the Christian's belief in a better tomorrow. A truly beautiful track that got a lot of radio play over the last few months. The other four tracks on this EP are good as well, a full tilt rocker "Play Our Part" and an acoustic guitar driven protest song "Acceptable Risk" both bite through. Buy this five-song EP, or you can get 'Golden Days' packaged with the band's earlier excellent 'Alibi' five-song CD, for a bargain price of £9.50. Get those cheques off to Swansea.
