The South African gospel pop/R&B/rap quartet have lost none of their raw energy with their latest (remix) album despite this being melodically a much more considered album than their previous efforts. The stripped down sound shows the boys in a much more self-assured light, with opener "The Noise" setting the tone of the album right from the word go. Production is as slick as it should be for a bass-heavy funk-trip such as this particularly if MIC want to make an impact beyond the confines of standard gospel hip-hop. Standout tracks include "Firefly" not only because of its infectious electronica beat but it goes against the grain of everything else on the album, with the boys singing in harmony instead of the shouty hooks that appear to be par for the course on other numbers. The dancey "Let Go" and "Explode" are also excellent floor-fillers and essentially the stuff of boy band dreams.
