Not content to simply gather together a collection of world class worship leaders at Brighton's CCK, white rapper MC Tempo emerges from the Church with a debut album of hard hitting tunes. Combining ministry focussed songs, a good lyrical flow, a variety of straight forward beats and a sense of humour, what 'The Last Days' lacks in sophistication it redeems through sheer uncompromising message. Highlights for me include "Drugz" with a hook which says "never never never never never ever do drugs". Drawing on personal experience and making comments on government policy along the way, you can't mistake the message of that song! "Genesis" is answersingenesis.com put to a groove. "Ten Commandments" does what it says on the packet and brings the big 10 to the listener whilst "Lie" moves from a hilarious intro to nailing the issue. On the upside, it's good to hear Tempo rapping in a British accent, on the downside some of the grooves aren't special enough to stand out. Having said that, this is a good start and I'll be looking out to see how he develops!
