This is a concept album in every sense of the phrase, as 'The Last Twelve Years' documents Lolita's journey in faith. The opener "Deliverer" (at one-time a possible title for the album), highlights her radical transformation journey from depression to hope. Although the collection leans toward honest ballads, there are moments that take you by surprise. "Should I Like It" is a catchy, pop-influenced song about relationship dilemmas, and possibly the most intriguing, "Man On The Beach" keeps the listener's attention as she describes feeling alone watching a man on the beach but all the time she reflects "he saw me", the song illustrating God's omnipresence. Lolita has a beautiful voice (sounding like a young Olivia Newton-John at times) and demonstrates an outstanding talent. I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more from this Bristol-based worship leader as this is a great debut.
