Do you like the current wave of Brit praise coming from Martin Smith, Sue Rinaldi, Matt Redman et al? I do. I like the fact that they're writing worship songs that sound great not just on record, but on Sunday morning too. Having spotted "I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever" on this first release from Loose Goose I sat down expecting good things and I wasn't disappointed. The band seems largely the worship group from London mega-church St Barnabas with some very impressive support coming from the likes of Nick Beggs and Mike Haughton amongst others. There is a real variety of songs (three lead vocalists taking turns) both in arrangement and style - we've got quite acoustic worship numbers as well as big sounds reminiscent of some of Mr Prosch's tunes. A lot of the lyrics are straight out of Scripture, but none of the songs lose their way in triumphalism. I'll be returning to this album for a while yet not only to encourage my heart but to remind me that the Lord is doing something profound with today's worship music.
