The album opens with a haunting chord held on the keyboard and a staccato high-hat; a distorted guitar takes up a high riff. Then a dampened low-end riff rumbles the speakers along with crash cymbals, roto-toms and bass drum. I knew this was going to be a fun ride and I wasn't to be disappointed. If you're into the likes of Pantera, Slayer or Supultura you're gonna dig this. Living Sacrifice's last album 'Reborn' earned them critical acclaim, as it seems will this. They have toured extensively all over the States, headlining and supporting bands like Soulfly, P.O.D., Cannibal Corpse, Nile to name just a few. Having lavished all that praise, there is one point I would like to make, however: If you want to understand the lyrics, you'll need the lyric sheet! I guess that kind of goes with the genre; but on "Perfect" Bruce Fitzhugh actually sings -rather than grunts - and I have to say he has a pretty good voice. Food for thought. An extremely good offering from this Little Rock, Akansas outfit
