Like a freight train plowing its way through the thick of night, so 'Reborn' emerges launching itself at the jugular of spiritual complacency and ignorance. After a three year hiatus between 'Inhabit' and this, their debut album for Tooth And Nail, Living Sacrifice re-emerge from Little Rock, Arkansas, as a force to be reckoned with. 'Reborn' boasts well crafted songs, tight musicianship and a Rich intensity of sound matching lyrics of equal wealth. Musically, there is everything from speed, thrash and grindcore; but there also lies herein a few surprises; the acoustic introduction to both "Sellout" and "Threatened" (with the acoustic strand running throughout the song) and even an improvised piece of spontaneous worship quietly spoken over a deceptively simple bed of classical guitars ("Presence Of God"). With 'Reborn', Living Sacrifice put the heavy back into metal, whilst simultaneously redefining the term. They leave the listener in no doubt as to their heartfelt desire to share the gospel with those who have ears to hear; tacking the wisdom of the world head on with the seemingly foolishness "I God in Christ, with us much subtlety as a sledge hammer.
