Blending African and British pop influences together in a seamless R&B style, LIC have a unique sound and will appeal to people who remember Limit X. This six-piece move effortlessly from the kickin' dance vibe of "I Wanna Tell U" to the stomping dance call and response of "Reason" with its soulful vocals. Actually it's the vocal prowess that sets them apart - even their engineer JJ can sing and contributes a Bobby McFerrin-style acapella interlude! The gospelly "Don't Need A Reason" allows the six-piece to pour out their love for God and "Whenever U Call Me" is another slab of soul to be enjoyed. Vocally there is no doubt about this, LIC have the chops, but the weakness of the album is that the budget restrictions show through on the overall sound of the production and backing tracks. This is a shame but makes me confident that next time around with a bigger budget, LIC will be able to come up with something that in every way reflects their talents.
