Lisa McClendon has written a very rare sounding album, one which is self-assured enough to not worry about what it sounds like. 'My Diary, Your Life' infuses hip hop, Jazz and gospel effortlessly and is easily the most contemporary Christian album I've ever heard. There's nothing superficial about this album, it's definitely one that you'll find new things in with each listen. Though it's 19 tracks long, there is surprisingly little filler, Lisa McClendon has a knack for writing really confident, honest songs. The tragedy of all this is that because the music isn't immediate and poppy Lisa possibly won't get the attention she deserves for writing what is easily the best urban R&B album I've heard this year. The songs are fantastically cool and mature, the production really confident and fresh.
