When ships are first launched their initial excursions are known as 'Sea Trials' hence the apt title for this three track CD which sees this American four-piece band's first foray into a recording studio. The result is a solid if unremarkable '80s influenced pop rock with God centred lyrics and a fine singer, Laurie Anne Gardner. Ms Gardner it seems is the driving force of the band and she possesses a powerful vocal style that suits this genre of rock and she also writes songs that are direct and largely cliché free. "This Minute" is a realistic invitation to check out the state of your soul Both of these tracks are pretty furious rock'n'roll but for the last cut "Kinsman Redeemer" it's acoustic until, true to form, electric guitars come crashing in! This is okay, workmanlike but just a bit dated stylistically!
