Sacramento, California-based pop-punk three-piece Light The Way follow up their debut full length album 'False Memory Syndrome' with this five-track EP. The pop-punk recipe of equal parts power chords, catchy hooks and upbeat pop melodies first hit the mainstream in the '90s with bands like Green Day, and now dozens, possibly hundreds, of bands from California follow the same musical recipe as they endeavour to communicate spiritual truth. 'Dad Gang' is not groundbreaking but there is nothing particularly wrong with it. There are a couple of tracks that diverge slightly from the formula. "I Liked Old AFI Better" is a full throttle track that leans more heavily on hard punk with the use of gang vocals, driving beats and chugging guitars while "Hope" has a more anthemic rock sound with a picked guitar intro and a contrasting big chorus. If you're a pop-punk follower, I would encourage you to check out the 13 minutes of music that make up this EP.
