It's undoubtedly a good thing that the back catalogue of Jesus Music pioneer Larry Norman is becoming available on CD here in Britain. Doubly so because the proceeds are helping towards the hefty costs of his medical treatment. However, the paucity of information on the CD and inlay card almost beggars belief - a few photos, the songlist, and some 2007 Solid Rock copyright notices, and that's it! No lyrics, no other information about the songs, no band line-up, nor even a mention of the original 1986 release date of 'Stop This Flight'. For Larry's view on the content, a radio interview is included as a bonus after the nine-song live set, with brief commentaries on each track. As he explains, most tracks have relationship themes: "A Woman Of God" draws on the Song of Solomon as a riposte to secular "I need a woman who does this..." attitudes; "Don't You Want To Talk About It" is all about communication; "And We Sing 'The Tune'" is about harmony in a relationship; while "I Hope I See You In Heaven" puts an eternal perspective on loss and separation. Larry's band were on good form, and in places the audience join in too. An interesting archive set from the father of Christian rock.
