Reviewed by Trevor Kirk Larry Norman is a true legend. Enthusiasts from the UK and the USA may argue ad infinitum and ad nauseam whether he really did invent the genre, and whether his title of "Father Of Christian Rock" is justified, but Larry was undeniably the first to make a significant impact through CCM. This DVD is of an unplugged concert that Larry did "up in Canada" in 1995, before he had his heart by-pass surgery, and whilst his vocal powers are significantly reduced from the time when he was in his pomp, his sense of humour certainly isn't - "I'm pleased to be here tonight," he says in one introduction, and then after a pause he goes on, "I'm pleased to be anywhere tonight." When I say "unplugged", Larry plays piano for two songs, and acoustic Spanish guitar for the rest, and the track list contains a fair smattering of classics, some of which are abbreviated and medley-ised: "Why Should The Devil .", Let The Rain Fall Down", "I Wish We'd All Been Ready", "I Am A Servant", "Why Don't You Look Into Jesus", etc. The visual quality is not brilliant, it seems to have been remastered from analogue video tape, but the performance makes up for it. I'm by no means a Norman anorak, but I enjoyed this DVD performance immensely.
