So is there more to a special edition than slipping a cardboard sleeve over the case? When having bought the original release, is there really anything to merit purchasing the special edition too? Questions, questions. Well this time round the Kutless guys have added four acoustic tracks and squeezed in a bonus DVD, featuring all seven Kutless music videos to date. On the acoustic side of things, stripping "Shut Me Out" down to the bare minimum goes to prove that "There's nothing you can do to shut me up when I'm speaking the truth" is just as powerful even with the withdrawal of distortion. "Smile" and "Changing World" offer less of a style contrast as Kutless do acoustic versions of songs which, well, don't really rock that hard in the first place. "Somewhere In The Sky" is decent, staying true to the drop D, pace and scream of the original but maybe could have benefited from a little more acoustic tenderness. The DVD is worth a watch even just to get a visual display of the Kutless energy, no more so apparent as on the raw and documentary styled "Tonight" video. So in response to the questions, there is more than enough here to cause diehards to consider spending another few pounds but one thing is for sure, if you haven't got your hands on the original release as yet, pick this up.
