Surrey-based classically trained vocalist, pianist, cellist, worship leader and songwriter Kat has here embarked on her recording debut. Using her musical upbringing to her advantage, she has developed her own sound that tells of her background in musical theatre and jazz singing. This combination could use a little polish to reach a wider audience but there is clearly a desire to worship throughout the album. Praising God in the midst of hard circumstances is the overriding theme such as in the song "Your Glory". Musically I didn't find myself getting very excited by the arrangements with some fairly ordinary keys and drum accompaniments. The strength of the album comes through Kat's evident passion for God and I can easily imagine "My Grace Covers You" and "Just As You Are" being performed in a prodigal son themed musical. If your tastes veer towards a West End musical approach with an occasional step into acoustic worship then you will no doubt enjoy this eight song selection.
