This album dates from 1980, so why review it now? Well, it contains some very fine music, has recently been issued on CD for the first time ever, but more importantly, it and the other two re-issued albums, 'Vinyl Confessions' and 'Drastic Measures', are the three projects Kansas recorded after guitarist, keyboard player and writer/co-writer Kerry Livgren became a Christian. The Kansas and Kerry Livgren story is amazing, culminating in these fine recordings, before Kerry left to pursue a couple of solo albums and the AD project. This album features Steve Walsh on vocals. Steve left because he refused to sing the Christian-leaning songs which Livgren was now writing. It's a shame because Steve had a very fine voice. The music was "art rock", guitar, keyboard, violin, drums set-up -sort of "prog" without too much instrumental widdling. It is in the late '70s, early '80s rock vein; but there is a more "earthy" feel about the music - how a band should sound after playing for 10 years or so together.
