The debut album had all the hype and hoohah. Now the big question? Does the sec-ond deliver? The answer is emphatically yes. American journalist Kathleen Ervin has observed "In this second project, Miller settles down into some fine songwriting -- good music that has little room for the all-too-frequent malady of Christian songwriting structure: conflict/confrontation/resolution - all in three verses and a chorus. Miller's songs speak of someone in recovery- from life, the past, from pain - and the songs dare to throw out questions, problems even hints at unspeakable experiences into the open." This soul stripped bare is in a setting of jangling guitar's (The Choir's Derri Daughterly much in evidence) with harmonies as diverse as Kelly Willard and Mark Heard adding touches of musical class while that eerily nasal voice glides and flows across rhythms sometimes '60's throwback, sometimes folk roots, and always perfect to bring the pain and poignancy from a great singing and songwriting talent. A brilliant album.

Great follow up to "Meet Julie Miller", full of heart grasping songs as only Julie could bring to us.
Included are some top notch known bgvs, the late great Mark Heard (we would lose the year to follow),
the sweet pioneer voice of Kelly Willard, Derri Daugherty of the 80's ccm Youth Choir/The Choir;
also Vickie Winans & Julie's husband Buddy.
I cannot leave out Shawn Colvin who supplies wondrous harmony bgv with Julie on "Broken Things": Shawn was the soft bgv for pop icon singer/
songwriter Suzanne Vega on the hit "Luka" -1987.
At the cd's release ccm radio aired "Broken Things", I was captured by this heartwrenching song, I believe all ears and hearts were nothing less than captivated.
2 years later the Williams Bros. would record one of the best cover versions ever heard of "Broken Things"
I have no doubt that Julie was pleased.
Thank you Julie. Buddy's strings & fantastic drums on cd starter, "I Will Follow You" are amazing, they make the song just as the top notch bgvs. The cd title follows, great bgvs are heard once again.
Julie plays electric guitar on one of the cd's greatest hi-lights "Never Gonna Give Up On You", I love the honest sound that echoes out from this song, reminds me of "What Would JESUS Do".
Rev. Dan Smith adds his vocals for the lead for bluesy styled "Don't Let The Devil Ride"; Rev. Dan would release a cd the next year.
The harmony vocals that ring out for "Naked Heart" are simply wonderful, thank you Buddy, Julie & Kelly.
Buddy's guitar strumming for "How Long" are again simply marvelous to hear and accent Heavenly harmony. "Manger Throne" puts it all into its right perspective, perfect closer. I highly recommend this cd, it is out of print, GOD bless you in your find.-Don

I wrote a review in 2005 about the song Never Gonna Give Up On You and this past Sept (2006) I received a phone call from my best friend in Junior High that I used to play this song and believe for her to know Christ. Well, she has been looking for me for years as I have for her and she informed me that she received Jesus in 1998! What we pray for and believe God for does happen. There is no distance in the realm of the Spirit. Glory to God!!! Anyway, my testimony of this song.

There are few albums that as a whole have touched my as deeply as this one. The depth of passion in the music has been a form of worship as I have listened to this album hundreds of times over the years.

I heard this album when I first got saved and the songs really touched and moved me. I do not recall the name of the song but there is one about her friends that saw her life before Christ and after Christ. She tells how she will never stop praying for them and she will see them come to Jesus. This is just one song but they are wonderful. They grab you and if you have forgotten your First Love, it will bring you back when you met Jesus.
