Reviewed by Liz Knowles I was thrilled to get another Jonathan Veira CD, having really enjoyed 'Life And Soul'. If chocolate had a voice, it would be Jonathan Veira - rich, dark and smooth - a big operatically-trained baritone who surprisingly can still swing and sound convincing on a gospel opus. If that wasn't enough, Jonathan composes too, and plays piano and guitar. Not many opera singers manage to achieve cross-over, but they could certainly take a lesson from Jonathan. His diction is sooooo good and there is such resonance in his voice (chocolate with built in echo). He's pretty hot on ballads too - "Only A Dream" must be a classic track. (After only two plays of the CD I could remember the song, which means it's either very annoying or very good!) I especially love the more bluesy, gospelly tracks. Silky trumpet from Raul D’Oliveira drips over the liquid bass and Zero 7 funk of ‘In the calm’ and ‘Love song’, the music matching the tranquility of the lyrics. The lyrical high point is the beautiful, politically tinged flag-waver ‘Only a dream’ about Christ bringing true peace in our time. This is one of the coolest albums of the year.

well Liz I am delighted that you have enjoyed the album so much and thrilled you like my diction so much.did you ever get or listen to @rhythms of the heart@ that came between life and soul and all that matters.it was a very different album and very much more acoustic produced by Paul Field.sorry no question mark on this computer!hope everyone continues to enjoy the albums and me appearing live at all the weeks of spring harvest this year inbetween my Operatic excursions .God Bless you lot Jonny V
