Not to be confused with new American rock band Jonah 33, this Chesterfield-based quartet have released a brand new four-track EP to demonstrate their developing talent. Worshipful rock is the name of the game and although they fight against limited budgets for production, their creative ideas give this EP some wings. "Rising" is a stirring, passionate ballad and the closing "The Sword" is a bit of an epic closer that I suspect is incredible live. Not sure whether the band have totally captured it here. The title cut is a vibey piece of funky rock that thunders along and "Promised Land" is another extended piece that begins gently and slowly builds to its climax. The only nagging doubt I have is whether the band's singer has enough vocal power to really cut it on all the material. Again, something that could only be truly judged in a live setting but here, I'm left wondering.
