If you're recently saved or lived too long in the cultural ghetto called Britain's churches, you may still not be hip to Christendom's leading blue-eyed soulman. For y'all, this is going to be a devastating introduction, plucking selected tracks (forget the 'hits' nonsense) from four killer albums, 1986's 'On The Run', '88's 'Change Of Heart', '89's 'Body And Soul' and 90's 'Jesus Loves Ya'. There are some breathtaking moments, like his revival of "Have A Talk With God", where he out-Stevies Stevie; that smouldering duet with Crystal Lewis, "Lost Inside Of You" and that historic first recording by M C Hammer, "The Wall". Ten good ones with two bonuses, a previously unreleased Christmas ballad and a remix of "Jesus Loves Ya". I was going to knock a star off for failing to include Jon's exquisite "Merry-Go-Round" from the 'Body And Soul' album but finding myself dancing up the walls after the crucial remix of "Jesus Loves Ya" (courtesy of Scott Blackwell), I'll let it pass and marvel anew at the blistering quality of sanctified dance.
