Or possibly what John can do: contemporary standard-setting Christian rock. The title track is a tribute to the work of Jackie Pullinger and a rebuke to materialism, which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Nonetheless, the message is not mocked by averageish musicianship, there's fine playing here. The arrangements and production (courtesy of Alan Shacklock) is hot while Phil Keaggy's soaring guitar fills pure class. John's singing has never been better while his lyrics, though uncompromising, are not 'preachy': John's songs are a blend of experience, his need of the Lord and a call to be real with Him - free from the taint of being holier than thou. This is thinking Christians' rock. John sings, "I've seen the needle and the damage done, I've seen the glory of the risen Son, I know the two can never live together...". He's right: Jesus is the answer.
