John Nuttall - Jesus Beautiful Name |
| |
Reviewed by Owen Chamberlain 'Jesus Beautiful Name' delivers eight powerful tracks from the Rochdale-based pastor and musician. Much like his previous work, this album is acoustic guitar driven, creating a relaxed, deeply meditative mood. Many of the tracks have notable instrumental passages; the violin in "Simply Jesus" is inspiring; "I Heard The Voice Of Jesus" and "Come See Jesus" both contain exceptional saxophone solos. On occasion, parts of the songs are somewhat marred by some very synth-sounding strings. It's a shame as much of the album is well produced. The simple but powerful lyrics create a strong narrative, which are highlighted by Nuttall's smooth and confident vocals as he explores different aspects of Jesus' character. The lyrics of the final track "Sweet Name Of Jesus" are particularly inspiring. All in all, a set of inspiring music with a clear message and a gentle yet reassuring vibe.

This is a burst of Jesus joy, a bit of a jig, a touch of Spanish, with a hint of Eastern, a tap of the feet and gentle soaking.
John paints a picture of his Saviour, friend and brother, Jesus whilst He was on earth; walking , running in His white robe and sandals, holding, hugging, laughing , smiling, living life, living free, alive, vibrant, abundant, loving, dancing, blessing children....
Jesus with His name in lights, not a swear word - sweet name of Jesus.
John says “I put 'Jesus' in the album title and the title of every song, so no-one could be in any doubt who this album is about. I find many people are OK if you speak generally about God, because they have formed their own view of who He is. They usually turn when you start to speak of Jesus, His pre-eminence, His Lordship, His position as God's Son. So having written extensively about God as perfect Father, on this album I concentrate on Jesus as perfect Son, the one in whom Father is well pleased, the One who loves to do His Father's will, who loves to make His Dad famous and to bring glory and honour to Him.”
