South Africa's John Ellis is best known as the frontman of hitmaking pop rockers Tree63 and this, his fourth release away from the band, sees him continue to carve out a successful solo career for himself. Proceedings get off to an upbeat start with the punchy pop of "Mercy" which sets the scene for an album chock full of straightforward, accessible pop that, whilst not taking too many risks musically or stylistically, showcases both Ellis' songwriting and vocal skills to good effect. Ellis often uses Scripture to form the basis of a number of songs (the folksy stomp of the Tree63 number "If God" being a case in point) whilst the supremely honest "This Love" sees the songwriter at his lyrical best as he candidly acknowledges his failings in the light of God's unconditional love. A triumvirate of tracks co-penned with UK worship writer Matt Redman also feature - including the Exodus-themed "Anywhere And Everywhere" and the accomplished Easter song "Rose Again" - before Ellis closes another enjoyable solo outing with the purposeful title track.
