The album starts uptempo with "Bad Religion", a country/rock number with a catchy rhythm guitar riff and lead guitar solo, followed by "Mercy", a blues number with a hint of funk on guitars and horn section giving the song an upbeat, jazzy feel. Another gem is "I See Red" with great guitar solos and strong lyrics as Jimmie imagines the colours God must see when he looks down at us. "Drive", co-written with Eric Stark, is an R&B track with saxophone, trumpet, keyboards and backing vocals. Jimmie's wife, Sherri, sings background vocals on the love song "Dance With Me" and things remain mellow with "Restless For The Sun" - a lazy blues number with muted-trumpet solo. The more acoustic "Beautiful People" is about how superficial beauty can often be the veil hiding torment within (if only "we could see with heaven's eyes") while "Three Chords And No More" is a luxurious 12 bar blues number that will get your head gently rocking along to the rhythm. The album picks up pace again for "I Love My Baby" - a playful jazz/blues number - and "Take It Back" - a southern blues number with organ, acoustic and lead guitar. If you've caught a UK appearance of this travelling troubadour and powerful Bible teacher you'll want to search this album out.
