Back in CR43, we published a little feature on this excellent US singer/songwriter whose 'Toys In The River' album made it to the UCB Europe playlist. Now comes another set of self-penned songs and again we can report that Jim is not one of those earnest wannabes with a folder full of evangelical cliches but a crafter of thoughtprovoking songs, full of colourful imagery. So whether he deals with the willingness of the Lord to shock our conventions as he brings a healing ("Come Let Me Spit In Your Eyes"); our willingness to get sidetracked on the dumbest rumours ("Why 2K"); or the absurdity of prejudice ("What Colour Am I"), this set of gutsy pop rock songs is crammed full of good ideas. As good a songwriter as anyone Nashville has got, this guy demands investigation.
