It has been said that you cannot judge a book by its cover, and if this was a book it would be proof enough that the saying is true. Smiling out from a sleeve which bears all the hallmarks of Acme Budget Productions, Ltd, Jessie Dixon grins with all the sincerity of kerb-crawler-hoping-to-score and sports a jumper which goes a long way towards presenting him in the mould of a kind of black Val Doonican. Truly a barfbag sleeve. Imagine my surprise - nay delight - at putting on this album and having my lugholes caressed by a sparkling live album full of all the enthusiasm and pathos you would expect from a master of his art form. Much of it was released as 'Satisfied' many years back, but there are additional tracks here. If you are looking for excitement, forget the rest and give yourself a shot of this, it is full of grooving rhythms, smooth vocals and occasionally it funks along with the best. There's some great musicianship here, especially in the brass section and the bass on "Heavenly Dove", which - given that there is not a Laboriel or Acuna in sight - just goes to show that there are several unknown Christian musos out there who can produce the goods too!
