Jessy Dixon has been on quite an odyssey, musically and spiritually, from trad gospel, through soul and R&B, now to "14 favourite hymns" given the country gospel treatment. 14 fave hymns for the American market, that I, so immaculate production, but don't expect Redhead's tune for "Rock Of Ages". You want to hear Jessy's personal testimony? Forget the sleevenotes, just listen to him singing - the voice as fine a musical instrument as ever - "Jesus has changed my life" ("I Am Redeemed"). Unfortunately, reborn or not, Jessy remains a better singer than composer/arranger, so this is another uneven album.
