This Hertfordshire-based singer/songwriter is something special. She has an idiosyncratic voice which one critic described as "Bjork and Lily Allen on acid", which isn't entirely fair or accurate but does give some indication of Jessie's sudden octave leaps and her somewhat quirky persona, while the rasping growl she achieves on the lower registers is something some will enjoy, some won't. This single delivers Jessie's eccentric vocal over a rhythmically picked acoustic guitar. All she needs now is a record producer of the quality of a Trevor Michael or a Jonny Byrd to turn her original songs like this one - a reflection on these myriads of angels cheering on our spiritual victories - into a radio-friendly recording. Here's hoping she gets the chance.
