Much of Jenny Pegg's life has been a battle with chronic illness and the fact that she is today a worship leader and speaker who shares from her own experiences of a loving God is a powerful testimony. 'Remain' is Jenny's first recording and was produced in her hometown of Sheffield by the vastly experienced Andy Baker though anyone hoping that the studio maestro would deliver another Philippa Hanna or Daughters Of Davis will be disappointed. But folk pop or UK soul are not what Jenny is all about. Her music is easy listening songs of faith with a strong country influence. Lyrically Pegg's words are bold and direct ("A cry for redemption is screaming to be heard/And before it leaves my lips/I'm in the promise of your word") and well above average ("I'm chosen and loved, accepted and free/I'm crafted, designed, uniquely me"). Production-wise, using programmed drums on some tracks seldom works on more middle of the road music and doesn't work here while the sleeve photos look gauchely amateur. But despite these misjudgments the aura of passionate adoration of the Saviour King comes through all Jenny's songs.
