Reviewed by Chris Webb The Michigan-based worship leader, orchestra leader and violinist offers some traditional hymns including "Amazing Grace" and "Blessed Be Your Name" plus a few instrumentals "Cooley's Reel", "Czardas" and "St Peters" to demonstrate her virtuosity. There's also a clutch of new, self-penned worship songs. The album is produced by the highly experienced Nashville music man Billy Smiley. Together Jean and Billy develop an agreeable sound and like the warm sun on your back, it insinuates itself into the consciousness, encouraging and challenging. Jean's accomplished violin playing, often showing Irish influences, runs alongside her crystal clear voice, with acoustic piano trickling behind like a country stream running over the rocks in "Everything Can Change" and "I Can Hear Your Voice" to remind everyone that God is in control. The lilting, unassuming backing of pipes, drums, piano and guitar are there to showcase the vocal and violin talent and do so admirably. All in all, the music here is all good, homely, clean and clear though some may find it just a tad too comfortable. But for others, the atmosphere created will draw them closer to God.
