Minnesota's renowned prophet musician and worship leader often presents music which steps outside the more modern worship settings and with its daring intent to incorporate improvisational passages into the structure often allows the listener to travel deeper into the things of God. The collection of self-penned tracks here offer an insight (as Upton puts it himself) "about what God has been trying to show me over the last several years: about entrusting myself to his will and purpose." Upton was born of a white Christian mother and a Sioux Indian father, and the Native American influence is brought plainly to the fore on some of the material here, particularly where Jason is joined by Grammy award Winning Native American Bill Millar, who contributes some atmospheric chants and flute. The story behind each song (piano-led, the majority of them gentle in tempo and with Upton as the lone voice) is told both in the accompanying CD insert and by way of a DVD interview with Upton. All this adds to a musical and spiritual experience which is intensely personal and yet at the same time accessible to those longing to go deeper.
