Jason is, of course, a well respected session man and virtuoso guitarist who, over the years, has worked with such rock luminaries as Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck and Ozzy Osborne. In 2009, having discovered a mysterious baroque instrument called the harp guitar, the well travelled British musician cut the mostly instrumental 'In And Out Of Time' in studios in France, Singapore and Kuwait and it is a truly intriguing album. This project could easily have become just another self indulgent musician showing off with his new toy but the eastern-influenced rhythms and skilful playing make for a hypnotic listening experience. It's hard to pick a standout track but "Moments Of Joy" with it's Arabic-tinged chants and vinyl style crackle is particularly mesmerising. If you're looking for a listening experience that's a bit different then this unusual and expertly executed CD may just fit the bill.
