The British R&B gospel singer recently found himself in the publicity glare with people calling him a "Royal Wedding singer" thanks to his appearance on the televised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bash. Here James grabs his media opportunity with both hands by releasing an engaging single with his soulful tones coming over loud and clear over a riffing synth groove, put together by producer Chris Morris. This infectious paean to positivity and self-worth comes with an official video which shows, as he mimes his song, James snatching a lady's hat and grabbing a coffee from someone, which he then throws away over his shoulder onto the pavement. I know it's light-hearted fun. But really, believers shouldn't feel freedom equals taking liberties with passers-by or littering London streets. Sermon over. Music-wise, "Free To Be Me" is a great piece of modern R&B.
