The prophets of the Old Testament, more often than foretelling the future, were channels of God's word speaking into the present. Their voices spoke clearly into the situation of their generation and much the same can be said of Jahaziel and his highly impressive debut. This London born and bred MC speaks with precision directly to the heart of his generation, backed by solid biblical teaching and personal life experience. Tracks such as "Power" and "In My Neighbourhood" showcase astounding lyrical ability employing clever wordplay intertwined with scriptural references. This album has a wonderful flow to it and a great variety of content, from intimate songs of personal testimony such as "Father I Turn To You", to bona-fide head-nodders like "Keep It Hot". Jahaziel manages to express himself with flawless clarity and resounding truth whilst showing great musical diversity as far as beats and styles. There is almost universal appeal: from new-school crunk heads; to true-school purists. Jahaziel delivers undisputed cranium-splitting heat on the mic and neck-snapping soul on the track. This is undoubtedly a holy hip-hop classic and has set a new benchmark for UK gospel artists in this genre and others. A new horizon has dawned. Perhaps hip-hop in the 21st century, with the emergence of life-speaking artists such as Jahaziel, is indeed 'Ready To Live'. It is a refreshing about-face from the '90s when Biggie set the tone stating he was "Ready To Die". Get this, and be ready to live.

Early this year I discovered Jahaziel and immediately got a copy of his album shipped over to Oz. I have been listening to Jahaziel\'s album, \'Ready to Live\', for months now and still absolutely love every single track on it!!!! The album is an absolute pleasure to listen (and dance) to and I can not recommend it highly enough - it\'s gold. The tunes, beats and production are outstanding. Jahaziel raps with incredible skill, creativity and honesty, packing his lyrics with scripture and ensuring that each song is most definitely focused on God. The result is a full album that is exceptionally pleasing to the ear, truthful, spiritually up-lifting and God-glorifying. It represents the best christian music I have heard that is not categorised under the worship genre.
I would recommend this album to anyone who is looking for some truly danceable music that is truly about God and Biblical. The genre of the album is a mix of hip hop /rap / gospel / reggae and offers great variety, as mentioned in the Cross Rhythms review. You don’t definitely need to be strictly into hip hop /rap to enjoy this album; I definitely don’t have a preference for rap, but I do enjoy pop, dance, hip-hop and a bit of rap. If you love what you hear on the radio from Kanye West, Timberland etc but want a Christian alternative, BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!!! And buy some copies for your friends while you’re at it!!  At the very least, have a listen to Jahaziel’s album on Cross Rhythms or at www.myspace.com/jahazielmusic
