A further batch of self-penned songs from Jackie and Terry Mills (formerly of Midlands group Nuffsed). Thankfully, they're all in the acoustic category and so bring out the texture of acoustic tools and the genuine beauty of the Mills' voices. The incredibly tender vocals of Terry, who leads on most tracks, have a wonderfully calming effect. Clearly he comes from a place of deep peace and his sound is slightly reminiscent of Manchester singer/songwriter John de Jong, and at other times of the male vocals on some of those early Songs Of Fellowship recordings. Not that these are worship songs, but indirectly they certainly carry that aroma of a duo in love with God. Jackie's haunting Celtic tones work well on their own or in harmony with her husband (and a third vocalist who can at times be heard). The tunes are fairly simple, yet nonetheless effective. They're also quite varied, with one or two quirky upbeat numbers, so there's no feeling of sameness throughout the 12-song experience. The overall effect is one of restoring the soul. This is a wee acoustic delight.
