The first national release form the Georgia-based outfit, this is a well above average pop rock set from a hard working band who've done more than their share of dues-paying. "Is it ever going to work itself out?" is a question all of us who've travelled with God for any length of time have asked the Lord and now it's the opening track which, aided by a nagging piano riff, sets the scene for all that is to follow. "Screaming Outloud" has an electronic vibe and some effective BVs from the band members while a song all about witnessing, "We've Been There" is a particularly catchy concoction with its staccato line, "I can tell you all about him" biting through the powerhouse drumming and ringing guitars like a hot knife cuts through butter. The ballad "Let Them See You" (a Weeks song already covered by Colton Dixon) with its lush arrangement may be a bit too theatric for some rock tastes but few can deny JJ's powerful chops which sound to these ears like a cross between Bryan Adams and Bart Millard. If there is a major fault of the album it's that too many of the tracks veer towards the power balladry of a solo singer rather than the organic outpouring of a hard gigging band. But such is the passion and power of Weeks' vocals and lyrics which exude conviction, not to mention some inventive production tricks from Third Day's Scotty Willbanks, and one is left with an impressive set which, even in this age where new signings are dropped form record rosters with obscene haste, bodes well for a long future on the CCM scene.
