I remember years ago when Chris Cole (Cross Rhythms' big boss man) and I were both reduced to tears when we played Bob Carlisle's song about raising a little girl, "Butterfly Kisses". Well, now Nashville's superlative singer/songwriter has had a similar effect on my tear ducts, which is impressive seeing that a) I'm a journalistic hard nose and b) JJ's single is a tribute to motherhood. But such is JJ's tenderly poignant song, aided by a charming mother and daughter video, that there's never a hint of cloying sentimentality here as the carefully selected images in the lyrics tell their story. "You gave me a drawer in your kitchen/You gave me the room with a view of the yard/Whatever the hurt, you knew right where to kiss it/You gave me the best of your heart/And you carried my rocks in your pocket/Flowers and feathers and butterfly wings/You had an answer for all of my questions/You showed me wonderful things."
