This South London-based choir, under founder John Fisher, has been singing for over two decades and during that time they have received a MOBO nomination and Best Gospel Act 2018 at the Urban Music Awards. The Hideaway is a London live music venue where IDMC choir have made their home. This 2017 live recording contains tracks such the gentle Hawkins song "Dear Jesus", originally on their previous 2009 release 'Soul Food', and funky bass-driven gospel songs such as "Power Belongs To God" and "Lift Your Head Up". There is plenty that will get your feet moving and the harmonies on the slower songs are very powerful, however there are no musical boundaries being challenged here. In truth, there are many similar gospel choir recordings around, but if you're an old fan of the choir you probably have this, or, if you're someone who's caught a recent performance on their UK tour, you may well want 'Hideaway' as a memento.
