Product Description
There can be few Salvation Army bandsmen who have not played at least one or more of the 'favourites' included on this album. The Salvation Army in the UK publishes its brass band music in four series; Judd Street Collection (formerly Festival Series), General Series, Triumph Series (formerly Second Series) and Unity Series. From time to time, some of the contents of the General, Triumph and Unity series have been collated into 'favourites' books.
The Household Troops Band has previously recorded a selection of marches and hymn settings from the 'blue favourites' called Blue Book Favourites which has proved incredibly popular around the world. Prior to the much-loved 'blue favourites' there were others identified by the colour of their cover. e.g. 'brown favourites' (from which the marches Wellington Citadel and Mighty to Save are taken from) and 'green favourites' from which eleven tracks on this album are taken. The 'green favourites' were the staple diet of many smaller senior bands and many junior bands in the 1960s and 1970s.
We are sure that many memories will be stirred when listening to these 'favourites', many of them written by luminaries of Salvation Army music (Bearcroft, Condon, Goffin, Steadman-Allen etc.) and some never recorded before. Enjoy and be encouraged!
